Workshop on WFME Accreditation Strategies & Standards Held at Monno Medical College

The Medical Education Unit (MEU) of Monno Medical College successfully organized a workshop titled “Preparing for WFME Accreditation: Strategies & Standards” on 27 October 2025 at Gallery 1, Monno Medical College. The session, lasting from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, aimed to enhance understanding of the accreditation process and align institutional practices with international medical education standards. The workshop began with a welcome and introduction by Prof. Dr. Borhan Uddin Ahamed, Vice Principal and Academic Coordinator, followed by opening remarks from Prof. Dr. A.H.M. Feroz, Professor & Head, Department of Medicine. Prof. Dr. Bazlul Karim Choudhury, Chairman of the Medical Education Unit, then presented an overview of the Quality Assurance Scheme (QAS) for medical colleges in Bangladesh.
Two thematic sessions were conducted:

• Session 1: Standards of Accreditation—facilitated by Prof. Dr. Shamima Rahman, Professor, Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Manikganj Medical College.

• Session 2: Journey Towards Accreditation: From Compliance to Excellence—conducted by Prof. Dr. Samira Hossain, Professor, Department of Anatomy and Academic Coordinator, Manikganj Medical College.

An interactive discussion and Q&A session allowed participants from all departments—including faculty members, doctors, officers, staff, and students—to share insights and queries regarding WFME accreditation.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Brig. Gen. Dr. Zulfiquer Ahmed Amin (Retd.), Director, Monno Medical College Hospital. The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Principal (In-Charge), Monno Medical College, who appreciated the efforts of the Medical Education Unit for arranging such a timely and informative program. The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Bazlul Karim Choudhury, Chairman, MEU, and the rapporteur for the event was Dr. Tasneema Juairia, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology.
