Department of Pediatric Surgery

The Department of Pediatric Surgery at Monno Medical College is committed to the specialized education and clinical training of medical students in the surgical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The department plays a key role in developing the knowledge and skills required to understand, diagnose, and manage surgical conditions unique to the pediatric population.

In line with the curriculum approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), the department combines theoretical instruction with hands-on experience in both outpatient and inpatient pediatric surgical care.

Academic Highlights:

  • Specialized Faculty: The department is staffed by experienced pediatric surgeons and educators who provide personalized instruction through lectures, clinical rounds, and surgical demonstrations.
  • Child-Centered Learning: Emphasis is placed on understanding the anatomical, physiological, and psychological differences in children that impact surgical treatment and recovery.
  • Clinical Exposure: Students participate in pediatric surgical outpatient services and ward rounds and observe surgical procedures involving congenital anomalies, abdominal emergencies, urological conditions, and more.
  • Surgical Training: Under supervision, students are introduced to preoperative assessments, intraoperative techniques, and postoperative management tailored to pediatric patients.
  • Interactive Sessions: Academic activities such as case discussions, seminars, and multimedia-based lectures help enhance student engagement and clinical reasoning.

Teaching & Learning Activities:

  • Focused lectures on common pediatric surgical conditions and congenital anomalies
  • Bedside teaching and ward-based learning in pediatric surgery units
