Department of General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery at Monno Medical College is committed to excellence in surgical education, clinical care, and research. Our department plays a pivotal role in training future doctors with strong foundational knowledge, skilled hands, and compassionate care.

We offer comprehensive teaching programs for MBBS students in alignment with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) curriculum. Through structured lectures, clinical demonstrations, ward rounds, case presentations, and hands-on learning in the operation theater, students gain in-depth exposure to surgical conditions and procedures.

Key Features:

  • Experienced Faculty: Our team includes highly qualified and dedicated professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and clinical surgeons who provide mentorship and practical guidance.
  • Clinical Training: Students actively participate in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency surgical services under close supervision.
  • Operation Theater Exposure: Live surgical observations and assistances allow students to understand preoperative, operative, and postoperative management.
  • Research and Case Discussions: Regular academic sessions include journal clubs, seminars, and case-based discussions to promote critical thinking and evidence-based learning.
  • Skill Development: Practical sessions in surgical techniques, suturing, and basic life-saving procedures are conducted in both the simulation lab and clinical settings.

Academic Activities:

  • Interactive lectures and tutorials
  • Bedside clinical teaching in surgery wards
  • Operation theater demonstrations
  • Assessment through short cases, long cases, and OSCE
  • Participation in academic workshops and symposiums

Our goal is to produce well-trained, ethically grounded, and clinically competent medical graduates ready to serve both nationally and internationally.
