The Department of Community Medicine & Public Health is an important department of basic medical science. It is crucial for public health, as it focuses on the well-being of the entire population rather than the individual patient. It emphasizes prevention, health promotion, and addressing the social, environmental, and cultural factors that impact health. It is located on the 5th floor of the academic building of Monno Medical College. Presently, the department is run by 8 teachers, headed by Dr. Afsana Mahjabin, Associate Professor & Head, to teach the students about basic concepts of community medicine, public health, biostatistics, research methodology, etc.
The department guides the students in learning extra-institutional activities like Day Visit, RFST, Study Tour, etc. in the spirit of teamwork. The department also guides the activities of intern doctors during community placement with a view to becoming a community-oriented physician. Maintaining an academic calendar, the dept. is providing quality education to the students by lectures, tutorials, and demonstration classes with the help of modern technology.
Monno Medical College, established by the Monno Welfare Foundation, aims to develop outstanding clinicians with core competencies in patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning, professionalism, and system-based practice.
