The Department of Urology at Monno Medical College provides high-quality education and clinical training in the field of urological sciences. As a specialized branch of surgery, urology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. The department is dedicated to building a strong academic foundation and developing essential clinical skills among medical students.

Our urology teaching program is conducted in accordance with the guidelines set by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), ensuring students receive a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

Academic Highlights:

  • Expert Faculty: Led by qualified urologists and experienced teaching staff, the department offers comprehensive instruction through lectures, clinical discussions, and procedural demonstrations.
  • Clinical Training: Students participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and ward rounds, gaining hands-on exposure to common urological conditions such as kidney stones, urinary tract infections, prostate disorders, and congenital anomalies.
  • Surgical Observations: Students observe various urological procedures, including catheterization, cystoscopy, TURP, and stone removal surgeries, helping them understand modern operative techniques and post-surgical care.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Training includes the use of urological diagnostic tools such as ultrasonography, uroflowmetry, and laboratory investigations relevant to urinary and reproductive systems.
  • Academic Enrichment: The department organizes seminars, case presentations, and journal clubs to promote critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and evidence-based practice.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Structured lectures on male and female urological anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Clinical case discussions and bedside teaching
  • Operation theater exposure to urological surgeries and endoscopic procedures
  • Hands-on demonstrations of catheterization and other minor procedures
