Monno Medical College observed World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 on 14 September 2026 with the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.” The program included an awareness rally and a discussion session aimed at promoting mental health and suicide prevention.
The awareness rally began at 8:30 AM from the ground floor of the College Building, followed by a presentation and discussion session at 8:45 AM at Gallery-01, 6th Floor. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Hossain, Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Principal (In-Charge), attended as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Borhan Uddin Ahmed, Vice-Principal and Academic Coordinator, and Brigadier General Dr. Zulfiquer Ahmed Amin (Retd.), Director, attended as special guests.
Teachers, doctors, officers, staff, and students participated in the program. The speakers emphasized awareness, empathy, timely mental health support, and collective efforts by families, educational institutions, healthcare professionals, and society to prevent suicide and promote mental well-being.
