Awareness Seminar on Dengue and Chikungunya Held at Monno Medical College

In line with the directives of the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), Monno Medical College organized a seminar titled “Awareness and Prevention of Dengue & Chikungunya” on September 9, 2026. The seminar was organized by the Department of Community Medicine & Public Health under the supervision of the Medical Education Unit (MEU).

The keynote presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Maqsudul Haque, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine & Toxicology, focusing on the causes, clinical features, management, and prevention of dengue and chikungunya. The seminar was attended by teachers, physicians, students, and administrative officials of the college. Following the presentation, an interactive question-and-answer session was held.

Dr. Mohammad Abdul Motalib, Associate Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, shared his practical experience and valuable advice on dengue management. Prof. Dr. A S M Mahmud Hasan, Professor & Head, Department of Pathology, and Prof. Dr. Bazlul Karim Choudhury, Professor & Head, Department of Biochemistry & Chairperson, MEU, also addressed the gathering.

The program also featured a directional address by Prof. Dr. Borhan Uddin Ahamed, Vice-Principal & Academic Coordinator, Monno Medical College, while the closing remarks were delivered by Brig. Gen. Dr. Zulfiquer Ahmed Amin (Retd.), Director, Monno Medical College & Hospital. The seminar emphasized public awareness, elimination of mosquito breeding sites, prevention of mosquito bites, and collective responsibility to help prevent the spread of dengue and chikungunya.
